Gilford, New Hampshire  — It’s been an explosive summer at Gunstock Mountain Resort.

The New Hampshire ski resort has been working on various improvements, including extending one of its trails off the summit. Upper Ramrod had two core problems: it didn’t have any snowmaking, and it featured a long runout that required some skating. They’re remedying the first problem by extending the Upper Ramrod trail to run parallel to the Panorama Quad chairlift and connect to the Middle Trigger run. In addition, snowmaking is being added to the Upper Ramrod trail, along with the Hot Shot run.

Yesterday, retiring General Manager Tom Day gave an update on the project. The video shows the explosive work being done to shape the extended trail. They blasted roughly 15,000 cubic feet of various materials. In the video, Day describes this redesign as “basically another trail.”

Other significant changes this offseason include adding a deck to the Stockade Lodge and building a welcome center at the campground. In addition, following Tom Day’s recent retirement, Robert Drake has taken over as General Manager.
