UNITED STATES – First weekend of August coming up? Sounds like a perfect time to go skiing/snowboarding to me! It may seem like the furthest we could possibly be from ski season right now, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t still options. Of course, there’s the ever present possibility of hiking to some snow-covered peaks in the high mountains, skiing or snowboarding on natural, uncontrolled terrain. But there are also a few controlled areas left for you to ski in the United States, two of which have lift access.

Big SNOW American Dream, New Jersey

America’s only indoor ski resort is the best option for people on the East Coast trying snag some turns right now. Big SNOW American Dream is a ski resort inside a mall, and it looks like quite the experience. Three ski runs, a park, two carpets, one t-bar, and one chairlift fill this indoor ski area, and skiers and snowboarders can enjoy two hours on the slopes for $59.99. The indoor park is open from 1pm-8pm Monday-Thursday, 1pm-9pm on Fridays, 10am-9pm on Saturdays, and 10am-8pm on Sundays.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon

Timberline Lodge is the one outdoor lift-access ski resort in the United States that just won’t quit. Skiing and snowboarding on the Palmer Snowfield, accessed by the Palmer Express, will likely continue until at least the end of August. During the week, much of the terrain will be taken up by summer camp and training programs, but public lanes will always be available from 7am-2pm every day. Those hoping to ski on the Oregon mountain can do so for $105 a day.

Copper Mountain, Colorado

Why does summer mean your park progression needs to stop? You could hit a trampoline gym/indoor training center. You could sign up for a costly summer camp, if you’re the right age, or you could just hit Copper Mountain’s summer ski and snowboard hike park. Filled with pipes and rails, those hoping to get on snow can hike up for just $25 from 10am-5pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
