A dog walker's close encounter with a black bear in California.

SIERRA MADRE, California – This dog walker had a rather close call with a black bear (yes, it’s brown, but it’s still a black bear) while walking in Sierra Madre in California. The video, taken by Andrew Cooper and Jake Smith, was shared with KTLA 5 after the incident.

The dog lunges at the bear, and the woman pulls the dog back. Fortunately the bear seems entirely uninterested in both the dog and the dog walker, so nothing bad came out of it, but props to the woman for staying so calm through it all.

Also, seriously, why didn’t the people behind the camera warn her? It feels a little psychotic to just let the camera roll and laugh as it happens. What would they have done if the bear had attacked?
