BERMUDA – You might not think of sailing as an intense sport. You might think of it as just a nice day out on the water, sitting under the sun. And sure, sailing can be just a nice day out on the water. But it can also be a wicked intense sport, especially when they’re ripping above the water at 53 knots (~60mph).

The United States SailGP team, of which Lindsey Vonn is on the board of directors, had a brutal capsize this past weekend in Bermuda, throwing most of the crew members off the boat, some of them into the water, and poking a few holes in the boat’s sail. It looks pretty horrific, and it probably was. Fortunately the team noted that the only injuries received during the crash were minor.
