Mount Washington might be one of the most well known backcountry ski areas in the United States. It’s certainly the most famous on the East Coast, with Tuckerman Ravine acting as a sort of rite of passage for those born and raised on the ice. Despite its fame, though, it seems as if nobody’s attempted to jump Mount Washington’s famous scenic auto road. That is, until now.

Freeskier Hunter Henderson didn’t just gap the famous road, he gapped it over a snowcat. If you’re gonna send something huge, you might as well go all out with it, right?

Huge congrats to hunter on landing this one. Incredibly gnarly. I’m sure we’ll be seeing some pictures of the jump in nearby Mount Washington related museums in the future.

With a small team, the right weather conditions and snow conditions, some elbow grease and some shaken off nerves, Hunter became the first known skier to attempt and land the Mount Washington Auto Road Gap.
