Whistler, British Columbia- One of the top trending videos on YouTube right now is about avalanches.
In a video released yesterday by YouTuber Veritasium, they dive into the science of avalanches. The twenty-minute video dives into what are avalanches, the most deadly ones in history, the different types of slides, what it’s like to be captured by one, what is done to prevent them from capturing people, and the type of gear you need to bring into the backcountry. In addition, Vertasium producer traveled to Whistler Blackcomb to document how ski patrollers conduct avalanche mitigation.
The video below is a great refresher for those who frequently ski or ride in the backcountry.
