MAMMOTH LAKES, California – Legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk shared clips and photos from a recent snowboard trip to Mammoth Mountain, ripping some incredibly deep powder on the California resort.

Who’d have guessed that Tony Hawk is a great snowboarder? Okay, probably loads of people would have guessed, if they didn’t already know for a fact. It just makes sense, right? I mean, Shaun White was a pretty killer skateboarder, so why wouldn’t the same be true (in the opposite direction, of course) for Tony Hawk?

This, too, was posted right around when Mammoth was getting slammed with a whole load of snow, something that tends to happen quite consistently at the California mountain. While much of the ski world is desperate for snow, Mammoth is sitting at a rather comfortable 197 inches of total snowfall so far. Last season, the mountain received an incredible 715 inches of snowfall and kept lifts running into August.

Hawk isn’t just good at snowboarding, either. He’s actually involved in the world of snowboarding and has had his own professional model with K2. Again, is that really much of a surprise?

K2 teamed up with Tony Hawk and Birdhouse Skateboards to create something designed specifically for hot laps at Mammoth (and plenty of other places, of course). That board was released back in October 2021, but some do still exist around the internet (this one is $500 on eBay).
