WEBER COUNTY, Utah – A skier died on Monday in a fall near Snowbasin ski resort in Utah. It is being reported that the man left the resort boundary to access the out-of-bounds terrain and was later found unconscious just inside the resort’s property. Apparently, the man fell from the out-of-bounds terrain and as a result of the fall landed back inside the resort.

Snowbasin ski patrol was the first on the scene, providing medical assistance and calling for a lifeflight for the individual, who later died from his injuries at the hospital.

KSL reports that the man fell off a 100-foot cliff while exploring the backcountry terrain near the John Paul ski run.

The resort acknowledged those involved in and/or affected by the incident in its statement.

“Snowbasin regrets to report that a guest passed away following an accident exploring extreme backcountry terrain on Monday, February 12,” the statement read, in part. “We offer our deepest condolences to the guest’s family, friends and all involved.”
