The Magic Mountain community is currently mourning, as a person died in the backcountry near the ski resort. Around 5:42 p.m. yesterday, a distress call was reported near the Vermont ski area. According to NBC 5, a group of people were snowshoeing, and a sixty-year-old male from Southern Vermont had a medical event and collapsed. Magic Mountain ski patrollers, along with Londonderry Rescue and Winhall Rescue traveled to the scene and began giving professional care. Unfortunately, one person has been reported dead.
The death is currently being investigated by Vermont State Police. We have no further information about the situation but will update this article when we learn more.
