Whelp that’s one way to prevent a guest from entering a closed area of a ski resort.
The following TikTok video was shot in Chamonix where a skier was attempting to ride into an area closed due to avalanche danger. The skier did not respond to verbal commands by a ski patroller who was yelling “STOP, STOP” and the ski patroller ended up chucking a ski pole to get his attention. While this may seem like an over the top response, it was effective. The skier popped up after somersaulting and gave a “WTF” which elicited chuckles from the crowd.
Remember folks, ski patrol might seem like the fun police on the mountain sometimes but their job is to keep us safe. Please respectfully follow their directions at all times. The skier who took the tumble may have been heated in the moment but outcome of cruising through an area with avalanche danger could have been far worse. Be safe, have fun, listen to ski patrol:
