Ski racing can be dangerous due to speed and obstacles, among other factors. People were reminded of this from a daring rescue by Paula Moltzan last weekend.

The women’s giant slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia last Saturday proved to be a challenging course, with wet snow leading to less-than-ideal conditions for ski racers who thrive on icy slopes.

Paula Moltzan was situated in tenth place after the first run. During the second run though, Paula stumbled, skied out of the course, and then appeared to be spinning out of control and towards the net. However, Moltzan used her athleticism to turn back around and ski off the course without crashing.

Paula’s had a solid season so far, with multiple top-ten finishes. The next day, Paula got fifth place in the Slalom World Cup race. American AJ Hurt ended up securing her first-ever podium finish in the same event.

This save brings up one question: is it time to bring ski ballet back? In all seriousness, we’re glad to see Paula made it out of this tricky situation without any injuries.
