A fall off a Sugarbush chairlift led to a prolonged lift stoppage.

On Monday, Jonathan Hillerby shared a photo of ski patrollers assisting a guest who fell off the Super Bravo chairlift.

What happened was the seat was up due to the heavy wind. The attendant didn’t put the seat down, leading to the woman getting caught on the chair. When the liftie stopped the lift, she was dangling from the chair. Whatever was holding her up released, resulting in her falling around ten feet to the ground and onto her side.

While Sugarbush did get 14″ of snow from the recent storm, there wasn’t much natural snowpack before that storm, leading to a hard landing. The woman was taken by ski patrol on a backboard and then received an ambulance. According to Jonathan, the chairlift was stopped for a little under an hour.

Update 1/10: We have a more accurate depiction of the situation from the woman in the incident, which has been updated above. The previous reports from the public that her fall was due to wind leading her to slip while grabbing the bar were incorrect. We apologize for the error.
