The start of 2024 has seen a disappointing winter in North America, with both the USA and Canada experiencing below-average natural snowfall. After a record-breaking season last year, snowstorms are now scarce, affecting regions like Tahoe, where Palisades Tahoe is reporting a total season snowfall total of just 49″. Resorts remain open, but conditions are not ideal for January.

Current snowfall over North America.

Western US resorts, including Vail and Jackson Hole, offer reasonable piste-skiing despite lower snow depths. In Canada, Mont Tremblant Ski Resort and Lake Louise are managing with less snow, while Revelstoke is showing better conditions with 137″ on the season.

Overall, the next few weeks are showing a mix bag of snowfall precipitation. Here’s to 2024 turning it around and making the 2023 /2024 ski season a memorable one.
