Ski resorts across North America feature a multitude of challenges, including chutes, moguls, trees, and ice. But which ski resort is the most challenging on the continent?

Last week, PeakRankings released a video that details their top ten picks for the toughest ski resorts in North America. PeakRankings’ top five most challenging ski resorts are Palisades Tahoe, Snowbird, Mt. Baker, Jackson Hole, and Kicking Horse. The notorious Kicking Horse takes the number one spot thanks to its hair-raising steeps, along with its brutal vertical drop of 4134 feet. The toughest on the East Coast is Mad River Glen, which is not surprising for those who have experienced the skiers-only mountain.

They also put Silverton Mountain as an honorable mention. While they picked Silverton as the toughest place to shred in the country, it isn’t in their top ten due to the mountain not having the basic amenities and infrastructure of a ski resort. In addition, Silverton is open for only guided skiing experiences, and the chairlift spins for a limited amount of time each season.
