One of the most exciting new chairlift projects in the Pacific Northwest is the replacement of Kehr’s chairlift at Stevens Pass. A Skytrac fixed-grip quad chairlift has replaced the old Riblet double chairlift. This replacement will provide a major capacity upgrade, and reduce lift lines around the base area.

During this offseason, Stevens Pass has been providing comprehensive construction updates on the project. This has included photos and videos of them demolishing the old lift, installing the new lift, and putting on the chairs.

Yesterday, Stevens Pass gave the announcement that many eager skiers and riders have been waiting for: The chairlift passed its state-sanctioned load test. While they have to do a few more things to open it to the public (which includes getting more snow), the project is ahead of schedule.

An official opening date for the chairlift hasn’t been announced yet, but it sounds like it’ll be ready to go early on during the 2023-24 season. Stevens Pass’s projected opening date is December 1st.
