When Mike Kaplan announced he would retire from his position of as CEO of the Aspen Ski Company after 30 years at the job he had a personal hand in selecting his successor and the new head honcho seems up for the gig. Geoff Buchheister has a soul patch and a ton of industry experience having worked for Park City Mountain Resort, various Vail Resorts’ Midwest properties, and Keystone, before becoming COO of Whistler Blackcomb back in 2019.

Buchheister is a qualified executive and also a badass skier with real deal athletic bonafides (All-American racer on the ski team). Aspen Snowmass’s new CEO is stoked to get reacquainted with the mountains he skied as a kid but with new eyes as he isn’t in racer mode mindset of his youth.

Buchheister won’t just be ruling from the corner office upon high and plans a skiing a bunch so you might just find yourself riding a chairlift with him. Good luck keeping up on the way down though, dude is a certified ripper.
