The National Park Service often shares a wealth of informative content about camping, scenery, and wildlife. However, they are also known for their humorous yet educational posts.

On the official National Park Service Instagram page, a photo was recently shared. This picture was taken at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and featured a bison standing ironically next to a sign that read: “DANGER… DO NOT APPROACH WILDLIFE.” The Instagram post included a comical caption that playfully referenced Carly Simon’s famous song “You’re So Vain.” The caption humorously stated:

“You’re so vain. You probably think this sign is about you.

Don’t you, don’t you? Well, it does look familiar. You strolled into the valley as if it were, well, the valley. Signs are perhaps the most commonly used method of communicating with park visitors. Especially for those who aren’t following us here. Signs serve various purposes. They welcome, guide, caution, inform, make excellent photo opportunities, and more. Despite their presence, they are sometimes overlooked or even (gasp) ignored. True story. Give signs a chance. They won’t lead you astray and might provide valuable information while visiting a park. Plus, they can put those self-absorbed bison in their place. We said it.”
