It’s been a weird year at the Montana Snowbowl, with unhappy customers, a chairlift crash, a U.S. Forest Service investigation, and two deaths.

The Missoulian reports that a saw operator was killed this month due to a falling tree at the ski area. The individual was identified as Greg Seitz, an avid skier who loved to shred at the Snowbowl. In addition, he frequented the ski area during the summer to work on various projects as a saw contractor.

People became worried about his whereabouts on September 14th, which was when he was reported missing. He was found dead on the 15th, with his friends and the ski resort saying that it was due to a falling tree. He was working by himself at the time of the accident.

Brad Morris, who’s the owner of the Montana Snowbowl, said the following about the accident to Joshua Murdock of The Missoulian:

“I don’t know very much about it. He was a contractor, he wasn’t a Snowbowl employee. And that’s what he’d done for years. He actually worked most the summer up at Snowbowl.”

Carolyn Upton, who’s the Lolo National Forest Supervisor, released the following statement on September 15th:

“This unfortunate accident is currently under law enforcement investigation. When that work is complete and we have more information we can determine what actions may be needed.”

The Montana Snowbowl has recently seen a lot of weird incidents. In April, an allegedly drunk driver ran into and killed his friend in the Snowbowl’s parking lot. In March, one of the chairs on the Snowpark chairlift crashed into a lift tower, making a father and his son fall to the ground. The U.S. Forest Service investigated the ski area and forced the Montana Snowbowl to make modifications to its chairlifts.
