“Our goal with Echo Mountain was to create Colorado’s most affordable, most accessible, and most diverse ski and snowboard destination.”– Peter Burwell, CEO of Burwell Enterprises.

The closest ski area to Denver has been sold. Ski Area Management reports that Burwell Enterprises has sold Echo Mountain, a small ski area that’s 36 miles away from Denver, to Jogan, Inc. Burwell bought the mountain back in 2016, back when it was in bankruptcy.

Here’s what Fred Klaas, who’s the General Manager of Echo, said about the acquisition:

“I am so incredibly proud of all the hard work our team at Echo put in over the last 7 years to create, build, and grow it into what it is today. We were able to build a great foundation for Echo and execute on a lot of its vast potential, and yet, we recognize there is still so much more opportunity ahead for it.”

In terms of what we know about Colorado-based Jogan Inc., they run a variety of companies in a multitude of industries. This includes Jogan Health, which helps fill healthcare shortages across the country. In addition, they helped the state of Colorado with COVID-19 vaccination sites. This company was criticized for not paying employees on time, among other complaints, resulting in the state of Colorado ending its relationship with Jogan Health. The company did give away tickets to Taylor Swift’s Denver concert this year, so that’s cool I guess.

Here’s their official company description on LinkedIn:

“Jogan Inc. is on a mission to own 100 companies. Building a relationship first is the key to our success. We take the time to learn about and meet with the current owners as many companies we acquire is the result of years of hard work. We value the legacy they entrust us to carry on and we take that responsibility to heart. At the core of our vision is an investment in our future. We believe in products or services that add value, create more jobs, and that will drive positive economic growth in our local communities. We are entrepreneurs at heart, and we believe in economic growth through groundbreaking ideas, products, and services.”

Jogan Inc. has yet to issue an official statement regarding the sale. We’ll keep you posted on what the new owners plan to do with the small ski area.
