The Istanbul Governor’s Office has reported that two individuals lost their lives on Tuesday due to flash floods triggered by torrential rains in the Basaksehir and Kucukcekmece districts.

In an official statement, the office indicated that the intense rainfall has subsided in the Arnavutkoy and Basaksehir areas.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya disclosed that one of the casualties was a foreign national who tragically lost their life in Kucukcekmece.

The victim in Basaksehir was identified as a 57-year-old woman who reportedly got caught in the downpour while she was outdoors. She was swept away by the floodwaters, with bystanders managing to rescue her after she was carried approximately 1 kilometer by the swiftly flowing waters.

Upon the arrival of medical teams at the scene, it was tragically confirmed that the woman had succumbed to her injuries.
