Las Vegas, Nevada — If you’ve ever wanted to visit Las Vegas, this winter could be a great time to go.
For one, it’s not hot as hell outside during the winter. Second, a ski resort an hour outside the city has been making major upgrades in recent years. These upgrades have included a terrain expansion for beginners, new lifts, a new base area, the opening of its mountain biking park, and a new hiking trail. To top this all off, major terrain expansion is on tap for this winter.
This offseason, Lee Canyon is expanding into the West Bowl. This expansion will add five trails during its first ski season, catering to intermediate and advanced skiers and riders. It will be served by a fixed-grip quad chairlift, which will be known as the Wild West lift.
Lee Canyon has shared a few recent project updates. The first showed off the new terrain, which has been sculpted during this offseason. The second update showed helicopter crews helping out with the concrete pours, which will support the future lift towers.
Another notable upgrade for Lee Canyon is for the terrain park guests. A new rope tow will allow skiers and riders to get more laps in.
In the meantime, the mountain is open for chairlift rides, disc golf, mountain biking, and hiking. It will also be hosting various events during the lead-up to ski season, including a Saturday live music series.
