One of the major stories in the United States this week has been the flooding throughout the Northeast, which has ravaged numerous mountain communities.

Quinn Keating sent us this footage from Richmond, Vermont, which is located just off I-89. The town saw serious damage from the storm due to its proximity to the Winooski River and other neighboring streams. The flood waters have since receded, but more rain is in the forecast, meaning that flooding can happen again.

The town is home to Cochran’s Ski Area, which has become the starting point for many Olympic athletes. The damage at the ski area has yet to be determined, but Quinn told me that he believes the damage to the trails over there is minimal.

If you want to help out Vermonters in their time of need, you can volunteer for recovery efforts here.
