William ‘Burro’ Schmidt spent 38 years hand-digging a tunnel through solid granite on a mountain in the Mojave Desert of Southern California.

Schmidt thought the tunnel would be a quicker way to transport the ore he mined to the smelter on the other side of the mountain.

He dug for 20 years before a road was built that made transporting the ore quick and efficient.

Check out the story of the tunnel in the short video below:

Can you imagine having the determination and will to hand-dig a tunnel for 38-years that ended up serving no purpose?

It’s probably the purest example of how stubborn and dumb men are.

Would a woman ever spend 38 YEARS digging a pointless tunnel just for the hell of it? No, and that’s because they’re smarter than us.

With that said, kudos to Schmidt for not giving up. His effort should be appreciated even though it was kind of stupid.
