The technology has been around for decades, and nearly every new lift constructed uses the feature to ferry skiers uphill at a much quicker pace.

Pretty neat, right? I’ve ridden these types of lifts hundreds, if not thousands of times, but I’ve never actually taken the time to learn how they work.
