The World's Best Snow Sculptors Are In Breckenridge

By

The world’s best snow sculptors have congregated in Breckenridge to kick off a week of snow sculpting at the 32nd annual International Snow Sculpture Championship in Breckenridge. 12 international teams will compete in the championship coming from places like Italy, Lithuania, Switzerland and the good old USA! Teams are comprised of four individuals who have 65 hours to transform 25-ton, 12′ tall blocks of snow into masterpieces. Teams are only allowed to use hand tools to fashion their pieces (no power tools allowed). If you’re in Breck, head on down and check out their work…seriously impressive what these folks can make:

Breckenridge’s International Snow Sculpture Championships presented by Toyota is a world renowned snow sculpting competition where teams from around the world descend on Breckenridge, Colorado to hand-carve 25-ton blocks of snow into enormous, intricate works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools, creativity and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. No power tools allowed! Teams sculpt countless hours across five days (totaling around 94 hours), resulting in a temporary outdoor art gallery in historic downtown Breckenridge!
