Lookout Pass opened one of the biggest North American ski resort expansions of the 2022-23 season on Friday. The Eagle Peak expansion had a soft opening on Friday afternoon and its grand opening on Saturday morning. The opening weekend featured prizes and giveaways to visitors.

Eagle Peak adds fourteen trails to Lookout Pass, setting their new trail count at fifty-two. The vertical drop of Lookout Pass has been increased by five hundred feet, with it now having a 1650 vertical rise. The expansion grows the ski resort to 1023 skiable acres. Eagle Peak is serviced by a fixed-grip quad that was built by Garaventa CTEC and was refurbished by Skytrac.

Last season we had the opportunity to preview the terrain, and we have to say that it’s a game-changer for the Idaho ski hill.

The new runs, and the areas in between, offer great skiing with stellar views. The new area feels remote yet comfortable and approachable. There are no cliffs or extreme terrain within the new layout, but if you like cruisers and tree skiing, this will be right up your alley.

Congratulations to Lookout Pass for getting this expansion open, and I look forward to checking it out someday.
