The Japanese ski season has begun. NHK World Japan reports that the Yeti Snow Resort at the foot of Mt. Fuji opened on Friday. The ski resort became the first in Japan to open for the 2022-23 season. Located in the Shizuoka Prefecture, the mountain has been using snowmaking to get open, producing 550 tons of artificial snow a day.

Around four hundred people showed up for opening day, with many guests dressed up in Halloween costumes. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Mario, and a whole lot of anime characters that I can’t name showed up at Yeti ski resort. If guests showed up with a costume by 10 a.m., admission was free. A video of the festivities from Nippon TV News 25 Japan is below.
