Windham Mountain in New York spent $9 million this offseason to enhance its ski resort, and it looks like it will continue to expand in the coming years. In a press release issued by them to PR Newswire, they detailed the capital improvements coming to the mountain this season, and what could be coming in the years ahead.

The biggest offseason improvement is the addition of a high-speed quad, which is replacing the Whiteway Triple. This is mostly a connection lift to the upper mountain of East Peak, but it does service terrain parks and beginner runs. The new lift will increase the mountain’s comfortable carrying capacity, along with reducing lift lines around the base area. Some of their other additions include a new beginner magic carpet and a large investment in automated snowmaking technology.

They also made a huge investment in their employees. Windham Mountain purchased the former Hamilton Motel and is currently renovating the property for employee housing. The property has fifteen rooms and a separate three-story house.

Additionally, the ski resort bought 450 acres of adjacent land on the East side of the mountain. They are currently consulting with the SE Group to develop a Master Development Plan. With it being only two and a half hours away from New York City, it is one of the hub ski resorts for the biggest metropolitan area in the United States, so continued growth is a good idea.
