Beech Mountain Ski Trail Map

Uhhhhh… what? Is this real life?

Did Beech Mountain Ski Resort in North Carolina start snowmaking before the likes of Loveland, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado?!

You betcha.

The ski resort announced this morning via a social media post that they started cranking out snow last night on their tubing hill as temps dropped below freezing.

Beech wasn’t the first ski resort to start snowmaking, that crown goes to Copper Mountain, CO who started snowmaking yesterday, but it’s weird as hell that a mountain in North Carolina was second resort on the entire continent to make snow.

Good on the snowmakers at Beech for being ready to go when Mother Nature delivered the seasonably frigid temps. That’s some A-1 work right there.

It looks like Beech might have a few more opportunities throughout the week as overnight lows are expected to dip into the low-30s. Here’s hoping they get that tubing hill covered before this snowmaking window ends!

Beech Mountain Stats:

Vertical: 830 ft.

Skiable Acreage: 95 ac.

Peak Elevation: 5,506 ft.

Snowmaking: 100% coverage
