After the announcement yesterday that a hiking trail at Golden Gate Canyon State Park had been renamed in honor of the 50th anniversary of 1972 John Denver’s hit song “Rocky Mountain High” I think its important to remember its not the only trail in Colorado named after the legendary singer. Aspen Snowmass renamed a trail in tribute to John Denver back in 1998, a year after his death in a tragic plane crash. Here’s an old video produced by Aspen Skiing Company talking about John, what he meant to the community of Aspen and the reasons why a ski trail is such a fitting honor. RIP John Denver.
