You might already know that I’m a sucker for Smugglers’ Notch Resort, VT.

I consider it to be my ‘unofficial’ home mountain after all.

The good folks up at Smuggs seem to know what’s necessary to run a successful mountain resort these days. That’s probably why they just announced that they’re adding free child care for all employees.

Smuggler’s Notch owner Bill Stritzler explained to Vermont Biz why the resort is investing in child care for employees:

“As a family-centered Resort, Smugglers’ Notch is committed to taking care of our employees, their families, and local community. Over the last few years we’ve seen the challenge finding and paying for child care has had on working families throughout Vermont. We’re committed to improving our employees working environment and one way to do that is to include child care as a benefit,”

“As America’s family resort, we want to hire individuals that are passionate about bringing our guests the best possible service, and we don’t want child care to be an obstacle to finding those people.”

In addition to daily child care, employees with older children can sign them up for any of Smuggs’ full day-camp programs. I spent many vacations in those camps, and let me tell ya, they were an absolute blast.

I can’t imagine how sweet it would be to spend all summer hiking, swimming in rivers, climbing, camping, and playing in one of the most beautiful places on earth for free.

Those employees’ kids are in for a real treat!

Bravo to Smuggs. They got this sh*t figured out.

Their neighbors on the other side of The Notch could learn a lesson or two from them…
