Authorities in Park County, CO were called to investigate a video (embedded below) of what appeared to be a pack of wolves chasing an elk herd.

The video was recorded from far away making it hard to determine what four-legged animals were chasing the herd, according to UPI.

Turns out that the suspected wolf pack was actually just a group of St. Bernards that have a known history of escaping from their owner’s property nearby…  😂

Here’s the original video:

The owner of the dogs is being cited by Park County Animal Control for allowing a large dog to run at large.

I could see how somebody might think that these four-legged creatures in the distance were wolves, but isn’t it common knowledge that wolves haven’t lived at-large in Colorado for nearly 100 years…?

I’m not saying it’s impossible for a wolf pack to start roaming through Colorado, but I think my mind would consider other possibilities like coyotes or dogs before I made such a large leap to a pack of wolves.
