Courchevel is one of the world’s most popular skiing destinations, but the ski resort’s airport isn’t suited for landing large planes filled with thousands of tourists. The majority of the planes that land at Courchevel are small passenger planes or private flights.

The airport has a small runway flanked by snow and barraged with alpine weather. The airport does not have any approach procedure or lighting aids. Pilots have to land on an uphill runway that’s only 537m long.

Landing at Courchevel can be extremely dangerous in the winter, and the video below shows what can happen if a pilot makes a mistake.

Hopefully everybody was okay.
