“When I went for training, some of my friends thought that I’d left for a nice vacation at a ski resort but in reality, the drill was highly demanding and we all made great efforts to become qualified.” –Neurosurgeon Dr. Li Rui
For the past four years more than 40 doctors from across China doffed their ER scrubs and suited up in snow gear to train for the country’s first skiing emergency response team set to deploy for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Along with ski training the doctors have been taken foreign language courses to allow quick communication with injured athletes. Fingers crossed their services will be needed minimally but its great to know there will skiing doctors on hand ready to attend to injured competitors.
