Tragic news out of Colorado where a backcountry skier was killed on Christmas Eve in an avalanche. The skier was with a partner on the southeast end of South Diamond Peak near Cameron Pass in the early afternoon when incident happened. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) reports the avalanche broke about one to three feet below the snow surface and was approximately 150 feet wide. The skier was was caught, fully buried, and killed. His partner used a transceiver and a probe pole to locate and remove him from the snow, but he could not be revived. His body was ultimately recovered with the help of Diamond Peaks Ski Patrol and Jackson County search and rescue teams. READ FULL REPORT HERE.
