A new and exciting era has officially started for Snow King Mountain in Jackson, Wyoming. Snow King Mountain opened up their gondola for the first time on Saturday, but not for skiing. Due to the minimal amount of snowfall to start the season out, Snow King is not yet open for skiing and riding(minus their base area magic carpet). To celebrate the conclusion of the construction of the gondola though, the mountain held a ceremonial opening on Saturday with free sightseeing gondola rides for the community. Based on the videos below, I get why they built this gondola: the views look stunning.

Among the other terrain expansions include the new Sunnyside terrain pod off the summit, which features intermediate terrain. There is a also magic carpet that will service beginner skiers off the summit terminal of the new gondola. It’s not quite Jackson Hole size, but Snow King is definitely one of the most underrated ski areas in the country.
