Many ski resorts across the country are struggling to open on their projected opening dates. This is especially true on the East Coast, where multiple resorts that were supposed to open this weekend announced a delay to the start of their operations. On Monday, a second East Coast resort joined Killington Resort to start out their season. Sugar Mountain Resort opened for the season Monday. Sugar Mountain Resort had the Summit Express chairlift open, along with four trails: Northridge, Switchback, Upper and Lower Flying Mile.

This season is a big one for Sugar Mountain as well, as they installed a Doppelmayr fixed-grip quad to replace the former Triple Green chairlift. The chairlift services the Big Birch trail and provides access to Oma’s Lift. Due to the warm temperatures that came in on Tuesday, the mountain is closed again. They will have additional snowmaking opportunities later this week though and are expecting to reopen on Friday. Photos from their opening day are below.
