Sorry to be the bearer of bad news this afternoon (see what I did there?), but there are some really ignorant people out there.

You probably already knew that, but I feel like the internet is the perfect place for dumb people to make a name for themselves doing dumb things. Now, I don’t want to completely destroy this guy, he’s probably just misinformed, but I can’t help but be a little triggered by his actions.

This contractor was working a job in South Lake Tahoe when he spotted fresh bear tracks in the snow. For some reason, unbeknownst to me, this dude decided to follow the tracks and actually encountered the bear.

The video below is of him reaching his hand out to pet the bear. He says in the video’s description that he also fed it. 🙄

I hope it goes without saying that you should NEVER do something like this. For one, you yourself could get hurt or injured by the bear… DUH. Also, slowly domesticating bears by getting them more comfortable around humans usually ends up with them getting killed.

Just do us all a favor and avoid voluntarily seeking out bears, please? Thanks buddy.

“Occurred on October 19, 2021 / South Lake Tahoe, California, USA “My name is Jack Henry Aagaard and I captured this moment of me putting the nose of a small brown bear in the South Lake Tahoe region during a recent snowstorm. I work as a contractor and I was doing fuelling for equipment late at night when I saw fresh bear tracks in the snow. I followed them and saw this small brown bear in bushes and it was comfortable with me, enough to let me get right up to it. I had some snacks in my hand which also must of let me get that close. After I gave the bear some snacks it wandered off into the snow.”
