The Slippery Ann Wildlife Viewing Area at the Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge is an excellent spot to observe elk in the fall. Hundreds of elk gather there annually during the rut, and tourists come from all over for the spectacular views.
A group of tourists were given a show the other night when two bull elk had a little tussle as the sun was setting. It’s unclear if this was an actual fight, or just two young males sparring, but it seemed like a pretty aggressive fight to me.
Still really cool to watch either way.
