Schweitzer Lists Huge Offseason Improvements

Schweitzer is having its moment. First came a flashy redesigned logo. Next up was an addition to the Ikon Pass. And they aren’t done with offseason changes just yet. On September 2nd, Schweitzer announced their capital improvements for this upcoming season. Over $3 million has been poured into transforming the mountain in what will likely be their biggest season yet.

Here are the changes for the coming season:

Humbird Hotel: This new thirty-one-room hotel will open during the holiday season. The property will have ski-in/out access and feature a fifty-seat restaurant and bar called the Crows Bench. Reservations are now available and can be booked here.

5 Needles at White Pine: Construction has commenced on this condominium extension to the existing White Pine building. Twenty-six new residences will be added consisting of two-bedroom, studio lofts, and lofted penthouses. Completion is expected during the 22-23 ski season.

Stella Express: Fourteen new chairs are being added to the lift, increasing the uphill capacity by six hundred people an hour.
New Food Option: A seasonal yurt at the “Chair 5 Saddle” will have a light fare for food and a variety of beverages.
Other Improvements: RFID technology is being added for direct to lift access, fiber optic cable has been added across the mountain to improve wifi speeds, a new Primoth grooming Snowcat was purchased, Taps and Chimney Rock Grill received upgrades to its food and beverages services, an excavator and brush cutter attachment was bought to “mulch residual tree stumps in approximately 100 acres that were logged two years ago in the Outback Bowl”, one hundred fifty parking spaces were added to the Fire Station, and eight water bottle filler stations were added to continue to invest in its NSAA Climate Challenge mission to reduce greenhouse gasses. Whew, that was a lot.

Schweitzer is in the middle of a transformative period. According to their master plan, they will aim to add more terrain and lifts, snowmaking, and real estate. The Mid-Mountain area will add a new base for beginner and intermediate skiers, and have “another lift expansion project in this phase with the addition of a lift from the Cedar Park area to the summit of Little Blue.”

With these changes, Schweitzer is becoming a bucket list mountain for every skier.
