Clint Phillips and his family were on a hot air balloon ride last year in Jackson, WY when a strong gust of wind sent them and two other balloons crashing into the ground.
Phillips said that the pilot was overly casual leading up to the crash, and didn’t alert the family that the balloon was crashing. The incident left 20 people injured with broken bones, head injuries, and other injuries.
I have never been on a hot air balloon, and never intend to, due to the fear of that medieval contraption crashing like it did to this family.
I mean I’m sure it’s an amazing experience to float above the ground and look at the mountains, but I would rather not fly in one than trust my life to a guy operating a basket being flown through the air using a propane tank and a big balloon. That just sounds like a recipe for disaster, doesn’t it?
