Multiple riders in the Tour de France crashed today due to loose gravel flanking the side of the road.

Some of the riders went tumbling down the side of the hill while others nearly avoided disaster by skidding to a stop.

The rest of the peloton kept riding on as medical teams rushed to treat the riders injured in the crash.

There’s a lot I don’t understand about the Tour de France, but the thing that confuses me the most is how many riders compete in it.

I don’t understand how big crashes like this don’t happen in every stage with how many riders they have crammed onto these winding roads throughout the French countryside.

It would be like if you had 150+ skiers trying to race their way on a downhill course. Shit would get crazy!
