After fireworks explosion batters street, shaken and angry residents question LAPD's actions - Los Angeles Times

The Los Angeles Police Department confiscated a significant amount of illegal fireworks from a home in South Los Angeles heading into the 4th of July weekend.

Rather than move the dangerous explosives elsewhere, they decided to bring a truck to the scene to safely detonate the fireworks within a controlled chamber designed for explosive ordinance.

Well, something went “catastrophically wrong” and the truck exploded injuring 17 people including 10 police officers.

Crazy!
