Opening Day on Montana's Beartooth Pass – Arteries of America

The Friends of Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center posted a picture of a large avalanche that occurred near Beartooth Basin Summer Ski Area on June 4th.

Warm temps and rain caused a large cornice to fall and trigger a 10′ deep wet slab that decimated the snowpack below.

Just a friendly reminder that avalanches can happen any time of the year.
