Sugarbush Resort’s Mt. Ellen Powered by Solar (41% of Total Operations)

Excellent news to report on the ski resort sustainability front with Sugarbush Resort’s Mt. Ellen running completely on solar power. WCAX3 reports  Sugarbush has completed a solar field at Lincoln Peak in partnership with Green Lantern Solar, part of a six array system that powers all of Mt. Ellen’s operations (41% of Sugarbush’s total operation). Here’s what the resort has to say:

“With our new solar power system in place, we’re now generating 2.3 megawatts of electricity locally, which is enough to cover Mt. Ellen’s electricity usage for the entire season! We’re proud to celebrate that as we continue to take steps to support our responsibility to protect the Mad River Valley and it’s natural environment so that we can continue our resort mission —to cultivate a spirit of lifelong adventure and camaraderie—for future generations.”

Tip of the cap to Sugarbush for this bold move towards sustainable energy consumption, hoping many many more ski resorts will follow their lead.
