When you visualize a plane taking off, how long is the runway…a football field, a quarter mile? Well if you’re an ace pilot at the stick of a “Sky Jeep”, that runway can be less than 10 yards. Check out the 2020 Healthy Bastards Bush Pilot Championship event at the Omaka Aerodrome in Blenheim, New Zealand and congratulations to Frank Barker for winning the Short Take-Off and Landing (STOL) with the shortest combined take off and landing in his plane powered by a 100-hp Rotax 912 ULS engine: 28.4 take off and 50.3 landing (challenging day with very humid conditions). These pilots are incredible.
