Two-part warning to anyone thinking of getting some spring lines in the Colorado backcountry.
Firstly, under a new executive order by Gov. Polis  Coloradans are not to travel more than 10 miles from their homes to recreate. That includes activities like skiing, hiking, biking, fishing and boating.
Secondly, if you do end up in the backcountry don’t let the mild weather take your eye off the ball when it comes to avalanche safety. Above average snowpacks statewide and near record setting temperatures are combining to create considerable avalanche danger in the high country.
Keep it close to home and keep it mellow. Be safe, be smart.
