The Mid-Station Lodge at Whiteface Mountain burned to the ground Saturday around 9 p.m. First responders rushed to the ski resort near Lake Placid and were transported up the mountain by trail groomers.

WCVD reports the lodge built in the 1950’s contained a cafeteria and an outdoor deck, popular as a spot to cocktail and relax. The building burned for more than 90 minutes with temperatures dropping to 10 degrees. Thankfully no one was injured in the fire.  New York State fire inspectors were on scene Sunday to determine the cause of the fire. The fire did not cause any trail closures and Whiteface was fully operational on Sunday.
