I posted a couple of months ago on a story written by the Portland Press Herald that seemed promising for the reopening of Saddleback. Now, the sale and reopening seems to be in jeopardy.

The Portal Press Herald is reporting that negotiations between Arctaris Impact Fund and the Berry Family have slowed to a halt. Both sides are pointing fingers about why the sale has been impacted.

Jonathan Tower from Arctaris said, “The family seems to have been influenced to continue to entertain other potential buyers rather than close with Arctaris”.

While the Berrys claim Arctaris has tried to place more costs and burdens them to complete the deal. Their official statement is as follows, “The longer the negotiations persisted and the more the Berry Family acquiesced to Arctaris’ demands in an effort to reach a deal, the more Arctaris persisted in shifting additional risks and costs to the Berry Family.”

The Berrys have claimed that they are still willing to sell to Arctaris, but are looking at other potential buyers for the time being.

Will we ever see Saddleback open again? Hell, I sure hope so. The town of Rangeley could use the tourists dollars. Here’s to hoping they figure this shit out!
