Kim Jong-un, the leader of North Korea, is looking to expand the nations ski offerings.
The leader of the Hermit Kingdom would like to see an expansion of tourist offerings that focus on hot springs and skiing.
Kim recently said, “The Yangdok region has natural and geological conditions that are well-suited for the construction of a ski resort.”
He went on to call for an “all-inclusive physical and cultural leisure spot where visitors can both soak in the hot springs and go skiing.”
A plan to increase tourism has seen the nation use vital resources in building tourism offerings focused on hot springs and skiing. North Korea’s first ski resort, Masikryong Ski Resort, has since been joined by Kanggye Ski Resort with other sites at Samjiyon and Wonsan now reported to be in development as multipurpose resorts with ski offerings.
